Fundamentals of Physics I

Description:
Covers basic principles of physics; introduces the phenomena, concepts, and theories of classical physics; details Newtonian mechanics, kinematics, dynamics, statics, momentum, energy, and heat energy. Appropriate for students expecting to apply to one of the health care professional schools (e.g. medical, physical therapy, pharmacy, dental, etc.) and also for students in certain technical programs which require physics (e.g. electronics, computer service, architectural drafting, etc.). Students intending to major in engineering are required to take the PHYS 151, 251, and 252 sequence. Demands knowledge of algebra, trigonometry and geometry. 4 credits: 3 lecture hours and 3 laboratory hours per week. Prerequisites: MATH 135 and )RDNG 052 or LVR 2) and (ENGL 052 or LVE 3 or ESOL 052). This lab course may be used to fulfill 4 credits of the General Education requirement in Biological and Physical Sciences.
