Processes and Acquisition of Reading

Description:
Students will develop an understanding of how the brain responds to reading acquisition.They will demonstrate a knowledge of language development and the reading process. They will demonstrate an understanding of the role of experiential background, prior knowledge, motivation, phonemic awareness, and personal significance to developing readers. This course has been approved by the Maryland State Department of Education, Division of Certification and Accreditation for initial certification and re-certification
