Composition Skills II
Description:
English 82, Composition Skills II, is the third course in a three-tiered sequence of developmental writing courses. The course is required for students who have successfully completed English 81 and for others whose Accuplacer test scores fall between 72 and 89 in writing. The course focuses on the logical and well-developed expository and persuasive essays, and it introduces students to the techniques of the research project. Grammar, spelling, punctuation, and sentence structure are stressed as discrete skills and, primarily, in relation to the skill of composition. Students attend scheduled Writing Lab sessions staffed by a tutorial staff to develop editing and proofreading skills needed to improve the quality of the essays being developed in the classroom.
