This course outlines the essentials of reading processes necessary for secondary students to become proficient readers. Types of reading, elements of assessment, skills of the reading process, the incorporation of reading instruction into content delivery and the affective aspects of the processes of reading will be examined. This course meets the Maryland State Department of Education Reading requirement for an initial certificate in Secondary Education and Generic Special Education Secondary/Adult.
