Introduction to Early Childhood Education, examines the conceptual framework for understanding the role of the early childhood professional and focuses on understanding professional and legal responsibilities in the profession of each childhood education in the context of historical, philosophical, and social influences. Surveys contemporary trends, issues, and problems affecting young children such as discipline, single-parent families, homelessness, child abuse and neglect, inclusion, accountability, and stress in children. Prerequisite: exemption/completion of READ-091 and ENG-096R or ENG-096. Three hours lecture each week.
