Open Educational Resources

Open Educational Resources (OER) are resources available for use by educators (at no cost) in their courses or lessons and can include anything from photographs to software.  The philosophy behind OER is that everyone benefits by making valuable teaching tools free and easy to use.

Recently, MarylandOnline joined the Open Education Consortium. As a benefit, MarylandOnline’s members’ faculty and staff can take advantage of Open Education Consortium’s wealth of resources (see link below).

On June 2, 2014, Open Education Consortium’s Una Daly and James Glapa-Grossklag presented to over 150 MarylandOnline members’  faculty and staff at UMUC’s Largo Center.  If you missed this very successful event, the link to the presenters’ slide show can be found at the following link --
