Program Description:
Students who first complete all requirements for the Master of Science in Management (MSM) degree may earn a dual MSM/MBA degree. To serve the needs of working professionals from a wide range of academic and organizational backgrounds, the dual degree combines 36-39 credit hours (depending on the end-of-course option) from the MSM curriculum with 18 credit hours from the online MBA curriculum, for a total of 54-57 credits. A separate degree is awarded for each component of the dual degree program as each degree requirement is completed. MSM students can declare for the dual degree at any point during the MSM program.
The dual degree program will allow students to obtain breadth and depth of study from the combined degrees. The dual degree program is designed for students who desire to complete a program of study that focuses on the theories and skills needed to manage people and resources within an organization. Topics of the dual degree include strategy development, leadership, organizational communication, and the management of capital assets, technology, finance, and economics in an increasingly competitive and global business environment. The breadth of the MBA and MSM core, combined with depth in an MSM track specialty area, provides a strong foundation in basic business competencies.
Students who first complete the entire online MBA degree program (42 credits) and meet all requirements for graduation will be able to earn the joint MBA/MSM by completing 12 credit hours in one of the MSM degree tracks.
All requirements for both degrees must be completed within seven years. All MBA work must be completed within 5 years.
